HTC’s long awaited smartwatch might actually be a fitness tracker

We’ve been waiting for HTC to announce its first wearable for quite some time now, and it sounds like the company might not be making a smartwatch after all — a report claims that it will be a fitness tracker instead.

According to sources speaking to Forbes, HTC is going to be releasing its own fitness tracker and the announcement of a partnership with Under Armour at CES was a hint that this was coming. It could be that the device is a joint endeavour, which would make sense since neither company has released any wearables of their own.

Sadly Forbes has provided us with zero information about what this tracker might include, but presumably it’ll have many of the same features that come with other fitness trackers. Things like step-count, a heart-rate monitor, GPS, and so on.

Rumour has it that HTC will be announcing its wearable alongside the HTC One M9 at MWC at the start of March, so we’ll update you if and when that happens.
