CES 2015: Digitsole smart insoles can track your steps and heat your feet

Leaving the house at this time of year is never an inviting prospect, but some new insoles making their debut at CES this week might help to make things a little more pleasant.

Digitsole smart insoles are designed to warm up to keep your feet toasty – so you can stand on a tube platform and convince yourself you’re sitting by a roaring log fire. Almost. They’ll go up to 48° C/120° F and you can control the temperature with their app, which is available for Android and iOS.

And their usefulness doesn’t stop at fending off frostbite – they’ll also track how many steps you’ve taken and calories burned and transmit that info to your phone. They come with a battery that should last at least six hours, rechargeable by USB so you can go a whole shift at work with cosy toes.

You can pre-order them for $199 (around £132) from their online store if you’re in the US or Canada, but those of us in the UK will have to wait a little longer, and make do with a budget activity tracker and an extra pair of socks instead.
