APP OF THE DAY: Trakr is a simple way to track anything and everything

Here at Shiny Shiny we love discovering new apps that make us more productive, track what we get up to during the day and help us to win at life just that little bit more.

So, we were very happy to get our hands on the super simple activity tracking app called Trakr, which allows you to keep tabs on everything you get up to.

You can use Trakr in anyway you please, whether you’re trying to break a habit, do more of something, do less of something, or reach a particular goal, the app will help you track how you’re doing (but unfortunately doesn’t come with a big dose of motivation or willpower).

You simply input a title and the units and actions you’ll be measuring. So, you could have…

Title: Half marathon training
Units: Miles
Action: Running

OR

Title: Cutting down on coffee
Units: Cups
Action: Coffee drinking

Once you’ve set up something new to track, you simply tap on the activity and move the little wheel around to tell the app how much you’ve done.

It’s really important for apps that need to be used regularly to provide users with a super simple and intuitive experience, and that’s what makes Trakr so appealing. There’s no added rubbish that you don’t need, just the things you want to track and an easy way to track them.

If you’re working towards something, maybe you’re training for a race or aiming to work out at least three times a week, then you can scroll to the right of your tracking wheel and set yourself a goal. Once you’ve done that you’re not just tracking what you’ve been up to, but you can see how far away from the goal you are, which is great news for competitive types.

If you want to take a peak at how you’re progressing, then there’s an option to look at bar charts of your history or add notes as you go along, but you can keep it simple and just track stuff if all of the added features irritate you a little.

Although we love Trakr because it’s so simple, in the future it’d be great to see the app introduce ways to help you track things without having to manually input anything, maybe with GPS integration so you don’t tell it how many miles you’ve run, it already knows. But, for now we’re just a little bit in love with Trakr how it is.

Available from iTunes for 69p.
