Apple released a series of 11 videos today offering a virtual tour around the iPad. Taking us through web browsing on Safari, reading emails and downloading stuff from iTunes, the videos didn’t really tell us anything we didn’t know. But critics branding the iPad as a sofa toy or granny gadget got some extra fodder as half of the videos did seem to be shot on either sofas or coffee-tables.
Pick the iPad up and put your feet up was the not-so-subliminal message.
Interesting points included: being able to rent movies on iTunes to watch on iPad and just how nice HD definition looks on that screen. But aside from a few nuggets of facts, the videos concentrated on that silky smooth user experience, and the glamorous yuppie lifestyle that means leather sofas and cafetieres are the true iPad accessories.
Yes it is a sofa gadget – but it’s a gadget for a nice sofa.
Or yup, like at the top of the post, just stick it on your mantelpiece next to that photo of your dog…
