Mr Whisper takes the Instagrammer of the Year crown #ShinyShinyAwards

Instagram and its snap-happy community have grown a great deal over the last year, with more than 60 million photos now uploaded each day. Our shortlist for the Instagrammer of the Year award celebrated some of the app’s top emerging talent, chosen for the way they use Instagram to showcase their creative photography, provide fans and followers with a sneak-peek into their lives and tell compelling visual stories.

We put this vote to our readers and we’re really happy to see that their Instagrammer of the Year is the very talented Mr Whisper (@mrwhisper on Insta). This self-proclaimed ‘visual storyteller’ has a seriously addictive Instagram feed featuring urban shots that bring out the gritty nature of living in the city, layered with admirable editing skills that turn everyday observations into magical creations. He’s collaborated with brands like Adidas and Samsung, who appreciate his creative flair and eye for truly beautiful photography.

Highly Commended: InTheFrow

Our readers chose our all time favourite fashion and lifestyle blogger, Victoria from InTheFrow, for the Highly Commended Instagrammer of the Year award and we’re not at all surprised – we could stare at her glossy, colourful and selfie-fuelled Instagram account all day! For those not quite so aware of Victoria’s social media star status, she’s a beauty, fashion and lifestyle blogger, as well as lavender-haired YouTube star with a PhD. As you can imagine, her Instagram account is packed full of outfit shots, beauty hauls and photos from the life of one of the UK’s favourite bloggers. We caught up with her recently – read the full interview here.

Well done, Mr. Whisper and InTheFrow – we love your beautiful additions to our Instagram feeds, and an award is the least we could do in return.

Honorable Mentions:

David Guttenfelder (@dguttenfelder)

David is a National Geographic Society photographer who made headlines for Instagramming haunting photos of North Korea. His work is an eclectic mix of portraits, still-life studies and scenery, with a talent for capturing the beauty in landscapes and moody, stormy skies.

Deliciously Ella (@deliciouslyella)

Deliciously Ella has been blogging for two years about her journey into the exciting (and surprisingly tasty) world of plant-based food and clean dieting while overcoming a serious illness. Her Instagram is stuffed with irresistible yet healthy recipes, as well as behind-the-scenes photos of her life that prove she’s a talented photographer too.

Mike Kus (@mikekus)

Photographer and graphic designer Mike Kus’s Instagram is a curated study of UK tourist spots and the natural world. Our favourites are the macro shots of rusty autumn leaves and early morning dew that we’ve tried desperately to copy – and failed.

Hans Ullrich Obrist (@hansulrichobrist)

One of the most popular Instagrammers in London, Hans is the co-director of exhibitions at the Serpentine Galleries. He uses Instagram to share a daily quote from the art world on post-it notes, pieces of paper or sometimes just his hand. You have to see his photos to realise just how funny, moving and inspirational they can be.

Vadim Makhorov (@makhorov)

Vadim Makhorov and Vitaly Raskalov make up the “ontheroofs” team, daredevils who are famous for their breathtaking photos and jaw-dropping videos of scaling tall buildings and famous landmarks. Luckily for us, Vadim has his own Instagram account where he shares some of the most impressive photography we’ve ever laid eyes on.
