The Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact are real, and they’re coming this autumn

The rumours, as they often are, were true it seems now that Sony has officially announced the Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 compact smartphones. So what are they like?

The flagship Z3 comes with a 5.2-inch display, while the Z3 Compact comes with a 4.6-inch display. Sadly we don’t know the resolutions yet. Both are also water and dust proof (IP65/68), utilise power saving technology to ensure the battery lasts two days, steadyshot camera and video technology, and 4K video recording that is easy to pause and resume without having to create an entirely new video file.

Hardware wise there is a 20.7MP camera with ISO 12800 sensitivity for great low light photography, a quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, Xperia transfer to make it easier than ever to transfer your files, contacts, and messages to a new phone, and PS4 Remote Play, which lets you stream PS4 games and play them on your phone.

There are also a selection of new camera apps such as Face In, which captures and event and your reaction as the same time; AR Fun, for scribbling and doodling; Movie Creator which turns your video clips and photos into your own personal films; Multi Camera, for multi angle filming; and Sound Photo, which lets you add sound to your photos.

We don’t have any pricing details yet, but the Z3 and the Z3 compact will both be available this autumn in a variety of colours.
