Apple rumours: Latch ditch leaks, Disney installing NFC, 5.5-inch model like an iPad?

Those Apple rumours just keep coming, especially coming up to the iPhone 6′s rumoured launch window, and keeping up with them all is proving to be a difficult task. To keep you up to speed, here is today’s round-up of the biggest Apple rumours and news.

1. A last ditch attempt to leak the iPhone 6 shows of what is claimed to be the finished handset

The iPhone 6 is due to be unveiled tomorrow after many, many, months of speculation and it seems that there is one desperate grab at grabbing the few page views that come with leaking iPhone-related material. The leak comes via CnBeta, a Chinese website which posted a number of pictures of what is claimed to be the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 in all its glory. Unlike the supposed iPhone ‘exclusive’ posted at TMZ, this one does match most of the rumours that we’ve seen in almost every way.

To be fair it look fairly convincing, but at this stage we to have to be incredibly sceptical about leaks. But  considering the phone has already been leaked to death anyway it’s not like you’ll miss out much by waiting an extra 36 hours to see the real thing. [GSM Arena via ITProPortal]

2. Disney are reportedly installing NFC readers ahead of the iPhone 6 launch

The inclusion of NFC is one of those things that pretty much everyone is expecting Apple to include in the iPhone 6, and it seems that Disney of the same opinion since it’s outfitting it’s retail stores with mobile payments systsems. The fact that this news broke just days before the iPhone 6’s supposed unveiling could be coincidence, or it could be that Disney knows something the rest of us don’t. Trusted Reviews points out that Disney CEO Bob Iger does have a seat on the Apple board, so the latter could well be true.

Reports also indicate that McDonalds is also installing mobile payments systems and while this could be seen as a precursor to the launch of Apple’s iWallet system, it’s more than possible that they’re just keep up with the competition (like Burger King and Subway) who already have contactless payment systems in a number of locations. 3. The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 could offer iPad-like interfaces in landscape mode

If the reports are true, the 5.5-inch model of the iPhone 6 could feature a two-column landscape mode similar to the one found in iPads. The news comes from developer Steve Troughton-Smith, who tweeted that the resolution of the iOS simulator had been tweaked to 736 x 414. By doing this, he was able to achieve a two-column view that. IF the screenshots are anything to go by, switching to landscape mode will be automatic, and similar to the two-column feature that’s been present on the iPad for some time.

If this is true, then the next big question is whether or not Apple will bring the feature to both iPhones. Would the 4.7-inch model even be big enough to feature this layout effectively? [@stroughtonsmith via iMore]
