Nokia's Ovi Store gets the App Factor – err, X Factor

Nokia users sometimes feel hard done by in the app field, but the Ovi Store have just announced a little treat for their users – X Factor the app.

One of Nokia’s tactics in electrifying their app store seems to be going for hook-ups with big brands – Tescos recently, and now with the X-Factor franchise.

So yes, X-Factor the app is a tie-in with a fairly silly reality TV show, but a bit of silliness is the essence of a fun app and this one looks pretty well thought out too. As with most tie-in apps it offers extra content around the main programme – more video clips, news, backstage gossip and so on. There are photo galleries of the judges and acts, just in case you want a N8-sized high res picture of Cheryl Cole.

The smarter bits come in around plugging the app into Facebook and Twitter allowing you to share your opinions and ratings of different performances with other people in your networks. Interactivity is always the key to a good fan app, because even the most dedicated Cheryl fan might get tired of pictures of her.

You can also enter competitions and see the editors picks and store your favourite moments from The X Factor. A

Of course nice though this app is, if you’re not into the X-Factor, this is not the app for you.

The X-Factor app will be available from the Ovi Store from Friday 3rd September.
