Put simply Yammer is micro blogging for business. Its big pitch is that it creates a Twitter style environment (there's a downloadable app or you can use a Yammer webpage) for colleagues to share messages, information and documents. Its creators say it has been designed from the bottom for business users so it is not only secure, but the administrator can delete people's accounts as they leave the company. It is fun to use, fairly addictive and is free if you don't want frills.
