If you’re heading off on your holidays this year, then you won’t want to be worrying about what you can and can’t take to the pool. So make sure everything you pack is waterproof – or at least packed in waterproof luggage or a swim-friendly case. We’ve collected together out eight favourite waterproof gadgets whether you want to record yourself doing some crazy water sports or just keep your phone by the pool and avoid splash-related emergencies.
1. For waterproof activity tracking: Misfit Shine, £65.67
The Misfit Shine is an activity tracker with a difference, mainly because it doesn’t need to be strapped to your arm (although it can be!) and looks a little like a flying saucer rather than a piece of wearable tech. It’s great for tracking your steps, workouts and sleep and you don’t need to worry about wearing it in the shower, the pool or the sea.
2. For swim tracking: Garmin Swim World Wide Pool Swimming Watch, £92.04
Garmin’s wearable device built specially for swimming tracks the distance of your swims, your pace as you complete laps, the number of strokes you’ve taken and way more. It’s packed full of special training features, like timed sets and drill logging. It may seem a little bulky, but it’s built to remain as streamlined and pool-friendly as possible.
3. For listening to music by the pool: Creative Muvo Mini, £49.99
There are plenty of portable speakers on the market that blast out the tunes and are really durable, but this one from Creative is even better for summer because it’s water resistant to boot. This means it may not like being thrown directly into the pool, but it can withstand sitting at the edge and getting a lot of splashes – which is more than we can say for most of our other pieces of tech.

4. For waterproofing your phone: Lifeproof Fre Case, £40
Lifeproof is the best brand for waterproof, dustrproof and everything else proof iPhone cases and the Fre is one of its toughest yet. What we love the most about this case is it’s still slim and stylish-looking despite packing such a punch.
5. For swim-friendly photography: Panasonic Lumix DMC FT5, £274.99
If you’re keen to catch all of the action from your holiday but don’t want to worry about getting your point and shoot wet, then invest in a new one that likes the water instead. It’s a little pricier than relying on your phone, but the Lumix DMC FT5 from Panasonic is a 16.1-megapixel camera with a 3″ LCD screen, 4.6X optical lens and shoots 1080p HD videos. It’s waterproof up to 12m and is also dustproof, freeze proof and shockproof too.
