Amazon’s Fire TV Stick – their answer to Google Chromecast – launched in the UK today. It’s been available for preorder for a while, and today Amazon announced that it’s their fastest-selling UK device ever.
At £35, the streaming stick plugs straight into your HDMI port and includes a remote control (unlike Chromecast), plus useful voice search and IMDB-powered trivia functions. For instance, it can tell you in one click what else the actor you’re watching has been in.
Jorrit Van der Meulen, Vice President of Amazon Devices EU, said of the stick’s success: “We expected Fire TV Stick to be popular, but the customer response has just blown us away. For just £35, Fire TV Stick delivers powerful performance and access to a vast selection of content, apps and games. The phenomenal demand has made Fire TV Stick our fastest-selling device ever in the UK in the first week after going on sale, and we think our customers are going to love it.”
