CES 2015: The Ultimate Ears Megaboom claims a 100-feet Bluetooth range

The Ultimate Ears team has made their way to Las Vegas to announce the addition of a new product to its line, the UE Megaboom portable wireless speaker, at CES 2015.

Claiming to have more bass, sound and power than other portable speakers on the market, the Megaboom apparently has 360-degree sound and offers deep bass. The speaker, which looks like a giant battery but weighs less than two pounds, is also waterproof and IPX7 certified, while the exterior is stain resistant and constructed with durable materials to last a long time with outdoor use.

One of the stand-out features of the Megaboom is that its Bluetooth range is said to be good for 100-feet from the smartphone – much further than the 20 feet we’re used to!

According to UE, the Megaboom also has a battery life of 20 hours, and, if you have two of the Megaboom speakers or an older Boom speaker, they can be paired wirelessly for more music power.

We won’t be able to find out whether the speaker lives up to these bold claims until we get the chance to take a look at it, during CES 2015 later this week.

The Megaboom costs £249.99, and is available from the Urban Ears website.
