The Asus ZenWatch arrives in the UK on December 23rd

It has been officially announced that the Asus ZenWatch, which launched in the US last month, will be coming to the UK on December 23rd. It’ll cost £199.99 and will be exclusive to Currys/PC World’s online store.

The ZenWatch does have the distinction of being one of the few rectangular-faced smartwatches that doesn’t look abysmal. In terms of features, though, it’s fairly similar to a lot of the competition, including a 9-axis sensor and heart-rate monitor for fitness tracking, a 1.68-inch AMOLED display with 320 x 320 resolution, a Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage.

There are a couple of important things that set the ZenWatch apart, though. It’s the first Android Wear smartwatch not to come with the stock version of the Android Wear operating system, instead it comes with a custom overlay called ZenUI. It also has a better battery life than most of the colour-screened competition (Asus claims it’ll last a day).

At the time of writing the ZenWatch isn’t available for pre-order on the Currys/PC World website, and it’s not totally clear when it’ll actually appear. But even if it doesn’t happen before the 23rd, you could still be in with a chance of getting your hands on one before Christmas Day: just splash out an extra £10 for next day delivery.
