What happens when you attach LEDs to a toddler in a stick-man formation and film her running around? Here’s what – a video that’s been viewed more than 22 million times on YouTube, and a truly awesome business idea.
As the Telegraph reports, what started out as a bit of fun has been turned into a full-time business, after the original upload went viral. Dad and creator Royce Hutain subsequently appeared on TV, received over 1,000 emails from fans asking where they could get hold of their own costumes and voilà, Glowy Zoey was born!
‘I never had any plans turning it into a business until the requests started coming in,’ Hutain writes. ‘It was clear that I had to find a way to get this costume to everyone I could so they could bring smiles and laughter to their own neighborhood.’
Nowadays everyone’s always on the hunt for something original to wear to their Hallowe’en hooplas, so if you really want to stand out, the Glowy Zoey adult costume could be for you (or if you just want your kids to look cute, there’s of course kid and toddler versions).
But there are bigger plans for the suits: after Hallowe’en, Hutainw wants to develop ‘LED suits designed for more rigorous movement like night time 5k runs and festivals. These suits will have features that sync with music or respond to your pulse.’ Sounds brilliant.
Zoey’s original Minnie Mouse stick man suit was made using 372 multi-coloured LEDs.
Glowy Zoey adult costumes start at £43.44. Check out the range here.
