Facebook has released new Mentions app, but you (probably) aren’t cool enough to get it
Facebook has released a new app called Mentions, but, unless we have some celebrity shinyshiny fans, you’re probably not a big enough deal to use it.
Launched in July, the iPhone-only app was originally only available to musicians, actors, athletes and government officials in the US. However, as of today, it’s become accessible to 40 other countries too, including the UK.
Mentions is designed to help VIPs interact with their fans via verified Facebook pages, allowing them to post updates, host live Q&As and find out if they’re trending.
We’re sorry you can’t download this new app, but we’re going to go out on a limb and say that it’s probably not the celebs but their PAs using it on their behalf anyway, so you’re not really missing out on much!
If, however, you are a celeb or the PA of a celeb, you can request Mentions and download it here.
