Pocket camcorders are all the rage nowadays, with everyone getting in on the act. Whether it’s a budget one or a high end recording device you’re after, there’s something out there to suit you. And Toshiba have just made your choices even more difficult by releasing two new models. Let’s welcome the H20 and P30 into the fold – they’re both hi-def handheld cams, which record at 1080p. Both models come with Toshiba’s new night mode feature which enhances footage shot in low-light conditions and they also have a special effects mode which lets you get creative with your cinematography.

The H20 build on the success of the H10, and is an SD based camcorder that features a 5x optical zoom and a 4x digital zoom. Included is a 3 inch TFT screen and a HDMI output, so you can view your footage on any HD ready TV. The memory is expandable up to 32GB, and there’s also a five megapixel CMOS sensor.

The Camileo P30 is my personal favourite as it’s a slightly sleeker (and cheaper) model that’s also capable of HD recording. You get a 5x optical zoom, and storage is also expandable up to 32GB with an SDHC card. It has a slightly smaller screen than the pricier H20, but 2.5 inches is still very respectable.

They also come bundled with software that includes one click YouTube uploaders and ArcSoft editing features which allows you to crop and change clips at home.

£149.99 and £179.99 from Feb at Toshiba
