Pure partners with design brand Mini Moderns on ‘Whitby’ range of DAB digital radios

Looking for a digital radio for a beach house or a nautical inspired home? Pure has partnered with design firm Mini Moderns to come up with two new digital radios influenced by the sea.

Called ‘Whitby’, both Pop Max and Midi are inspired by 1950s linocuts and, according to the designers, attempt to capture the majesty and beauty of the open sea. London based Mini Moderns designers Keith Stephenson and Mark Hampshire explain how the design came about:

“Coincidentally, we both spent all our holidays on the North Yorkshire coastline… so when we think of the seaside, it’s not beach huts and yachts, but the vibrancy of a working fishing harbour that comes to mind. The linocut style offered the perfect way of expressing the movement of the waves and the ruggedness of the coastline we know so well.”

Pure claims the range boasts highly energy efficient digital audio amplification to deliver the best possible sound quality, excellent battery life and low power consumption. The Pop family also comes with three years warranty as standard and is mains powered with the option to take regular alkaline batteries or an eco-friendly rechargeable ChargePAK D1 for portable use.

Both digital radios also include Bluetooth for wireless streaming and as with all Pure’s current range of digital radio, Pop is Digital Radio tick approved, meaning the range is future proofed and ready for a Digital Radio switchover.

Says Nick Hucker, Pure’s Senior Director of Global Marketing: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Mini Moderns as we really identify with their creativity and influence in British interior design. The Pop family has already won a prestigious Red Dot design award for its innovative design and we think its style marries perfectly with the attention to detail in Mini Moderns’ Whitby collection. We recognise that our customers love our designer collaborations and this new range champions Pure’s focus on design in home technology.”

Midi by Midi Moderns and Pop Maxi by Mini Moderns will be available through John Lewis, Mini Moderns’ online store and independent retailers at an SRP of £89.99 and £109.99 respectively. See http://www.minimoderns.com.
