SanDisk’s two new mobile flash drives will make it even easier to transfer content #MWC15

Mobile World Congress is a lot about new phones, but it isn’t only about new phones. Today, storage solution company SanDisk has announced two new mobile flash drives, both designed to make it quicker and easier to transfer content from phones and tablets to your computer.

First up is the company’s Dual USB Drive with Type C connector (pictured), ideal for Type C-ready connected devices. Within the next year, up to 12% of handsets could feature Type C connectors. This new drive has a Type C connector on one end and USB 3.0 on the other. It also works with SanDisk’s Memory Zone app, available for free from the Google Play store and compatible with most Android-powered devices. This allows users to easily find, organise, transfer, and back up data. The 32GB drive will be available later this year.

Then there’s the new 128GB iXpand™ Flash Drive, out next month and designed so iPhone and iPad users can easily transfer photos and videos to their computers without using cables, Wi-Fi, or data allowances. Used with the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 or iPad Mini 3, it doubles the amount of available multimedia storage, enables playback directly from the drive, and works with the iXpand Sync iOS app to automatically sync, backup and transfer photos and videos.

This year alone, people will share an estimated 1.6 trillion images, seven out of 10 of which will be taken on a mobile device. SanDisk’s research shows that 67% of customers want it to be easier to transfer and store these files. The company’s vice president of product marketing Dinesh Bahal says, ‘We are focused on delivering memory solutions designed to simplify the transfer process, while also providing expanded storage capacity so they can keep capturing and sharing great memories.’
