We love: Birdsong, the ‘no sweatshops, no photoshop’ female-forward fashion company

We were really excited to meet Birdsong at Tech City’s recent showcase of women-led businesses – they’re a breath of fresh air in the style world. Why? Because all their clothes are made by women’s groups, and 70-90% of the purchase price goes straight to those organisations, helping them flourish.

Products include:

Jewellery handmade by women recovering from addictions and eating disorders
Sweet Cavanagh Rajasthan necklace, £22

Brightly-coloured bags made by fairly-paid women in Malawi
KHAMA Yellow Chitenge shopper, £15

Cosy scarves knitted by elderly ladies in a day centre
Staywell Bradbury scarf in electric blue, £30

We love Birdsong London’s ‘No sweatshops, no Photoshop’ approach. If you do too, you can shop their entire collection here. Their blog is also a haven of fashion, body positivity, and models who actually represent the diversity of women. Check it out here.
