The Samsung Galaxy S6 is in development, code-named ‘Project Zero’

We all figured that the Galaxy S6 was in development over at Samsung labs, but it’s always nice to have confirmation. According to the folks over at SamMobile, the phone is in development and is code-named ‘Project Zero’.

You might not have paid much attention to phone code-names in the past, but this one definitely is interesting. Normally Samsung’s code-names are letter, i.e. Project H (Galaxy Note 3), or Project K (Galaxy S5), and the uniqueness of the S6’s code-name hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Sources who spoke to SamMobile have claimed that this is because the Galaxy S6 is not just an improvement on the Galaxy S5. Apparently Samsung is starting from scratch and developing a next generation flagship device with a brand new vision for the future, i.e. something different and unique.

Personally I welcome this change, if it’s true, since a lot of new phone models are almost identical to the old one, with only a bit of improved interior hardware setting them apart — just look at the differences between the Xperia Z2 and Z2 and you’ll see what I mean. If Samsung actually does do something radically different, it could get that extra boost it’s been looking for for some time.
