A new update means the Xperia Z2 can stream PS4 games

Sony is in the process of rolling out updates for the Xperia Z2 smartphone and Z2 tablets that brings the latest version of Android KitKat (v4.4.4) to the devices, and with it a whole host of new features.

One of the most exciting features is one that has been available on the Z3 since launch: PS4 remote play which allows people to stream Playstation 4 games from your console and onto your phone. All you need is a Dualshock 4 controller to link to your phone via Bluetooth, and a home Wi-Fi connection.

The update also brings Sony’s Hi-Res Audio features to the older devices, meaning they can play uncompressed PCM and DSD audio files and can upscale regular MP3s to a more impressive sound quality. Plus Xperia Z2 owners get the chance to use the Ultra Stamina mode to prolong the device’s already hefty battery life, and will have access to a quick settings menu.

The update isn’t available in Europe just yet, but Sony has promised that it will be available in the next couple of days.
