The Hunger Games is being turned into a London stage show

We’ve all heard of The Hunger Games right? If you haven’t, then you’ve clearly been living under a rock, as it’s already sold 80 million copies around the world, and taken over $1.5 billion at the cinema box office. If that wasn’t enough,it’s now set to come to London in the form of a stage show, IN A PURPOSE-BUILT THEATRE!

Lionsgate, the studio behind the critically acclaimed film adaptations of Suzanne Collins’ trilogy, has announced today that they will create a theatrical performance in a new, purpose-built theatre next to Wembley Stadium and Arena in Summer 2016. Yes, it’s quite a long wait, but not as long as we’re going to have to wait for Toy Story 4, which was also confirmed today!

Lionsgate’s Tim Palen said it will be ‘a live theatrical experience’ combining ‘creative genius, world-class production values and state-of-the-art technology’.

If it’s going to be anywhere near as good as the films, which tell the story of Katniss Everdeen being chosen for The Hunger Games (in which 24 teens fight to the death), it’s going to have to have amazing tech, and, let’s be honest, be staged in-the-round, because 360 degree killings and all that jazz!
