Vodafone’s new budget Smart Tab 4G tablet lands today

Vodafone has today released its latest model in the Smart Tab range: the Smart Tab 4G.

Calling it ‘our best ever tablet’, the team behind the Smart Tab 4G  sports an 8-inch HD display, a 5-Megapixel camera (an improvement on the last model), a big 4100mAh battery and powerful performance. And its big feature is that unlike a lot of its rivals it’s 4G-ready.

Crucially the Smart Tab 4G outstrips its competitors in terms of price: it’s available on a 1GB 4G plan from £17 per month with a £29 upfront cost, or on 4G pay as you go for just £125.

‘The new Smart Tab 4G is the next evolution of the Smart Tab range,’ said Vodafone’s Connected Devices Portfolio manager, Jason Smith, on the Vodafone blog. ‘Since the Smart Tab 4 launched we’ve focussed on improving our data speed technology, so now we can offer a device that’s faster, but at the same price as its predecessor.’

The Tesco Hudl 2, which we reviewed recently, rivals this cost, but lacks the 4G capability.
