Twitpic really is shutting down on October 25th

Twitpic isn’t having a good time of it recently. Trademark disputes with Twitter led to an announcement that the service was shutting down, and not long after the owners announced the service had been saved by someone willing to acquire them. Looks like that deal is no longer on the table.

Twitpic founder Noah Everett announced the closure on the service’s blog, stating that “agreeable terms could not be met” after meeting with “a handful of potential acquirers.”

Everett also stated that the announcement that the service would not close was premature, but the company felt that it was important to keep users informed about the service’s future, especially when it was seemingly so positive.

So if you are a Twitpic user, you have just over a week to export all your data and pictures from the service. You can find out how to do that here.
