Sorry #Gapgate critics, Samsung says the gap is supposed to be there

Yesterday we head about #Gapgate, the fresh scandal that’s rocking the mobile world. The problem is that the Galaxy Note 4 has a gap on the side of the case that’s big enough for a business card to slot into. Despite that, the official word is that the gap is supposed to be there. Confused? Me too.

After reading through the Galaxy Note 4’s user manual, Android Central discovered that the gap is there on purpose because Samsung specifically mentions that it is, saying:

“This gap is a necessary manufacturing feature and some minor rocking or vibration of parts may occur. Over time, friction between parts may cause this gap to expand slightly.”

BGR points out that the gap was mentioned in the manuals for both the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 2, yet nobody seems to have noticed or mentioned the gap in the past. While it appears that the gap may increase in size, we’ll have to wait and see what the Galaxy Note 4 holds when it makes it to our shores next week.
