Apple has confirmed a 16th October press event

There you have it, after much rumour and speculation, Apple has officially announced that there will be a press event on October 16th. It’s widely assumed that this event will see the launch of the updated version of the iPad Air, the public release of OS X Yosemite, and possible the unveiling of new Macs.

The invite itself featured the phrase ‘It’s been far too long’, which could mean a number of things. For starters it could mean that Apple is unveiling products we haven’t seen for a very long time, such as the Apple TV, or an updated iPod or Mac Mini. On there other hand it could be a snarky remark. Considering it’s only been a month since Apple unveiled the iPhone 6 and the Apple Watch, it could be the company poking fun at itself.

So what do we have rumoured for the event so far? Well the two prominent ones are the iPad Air 2, and the giant-sized iPad Pro. The updated iPad Air is rumoured to be running on an A8 processor, and is expected to come with TouchID and possibly Apple pay. The iPad Pro is expected to have a 13-inch display, but little else is known.

But, considering the event is only a week away we certainly don’t have to wait very long.
