UpLocket is a 3d-printed accessory with NFC

What do you really need NFC for these days? You don’t really need it, but it’s rather useful to have around. Whether it’s in your fitness tracker, on your phone, or even in your credit card. But what about storage? We’re still mostly using USB sticks or cloud services to share and store data, why not an NFC accessory that you can carry on your person?

Currently on Kickstarter, UpLocket is a 3D printed locket that also comes with an NFC tag. The express purpose of this is so that you can share photos and videos with other people easily, while looking fairly stylish in the process.

How do you do this? Well it requires the other person to have an NFC enabled phone for starters, but if they do then all you need to worry about is tapping your pendant on the persons phone. It’s that simple, one tap and they get to see the photos or video that you have stored on your locket.

There are a number of different styles to choose from (including matching earings), and if you want to get your hands on an UpLocket, it’ll cost you a $25 (£15) pledge to the Kickstarter campaign.
