NVIDIA has outed HTC’s Nexus 9 tablet

All this business with tech companies suing each other is incredibly irritating, and usually no good ever comes from it. Today is one of the very rare occasions where that is not the case, because NVIDIA’s lawsuit against Samsung and Qualcomm for copyright infringement has come with an extra special bonus: the court documents have detailed the first official mention of the Nexus 9.

We’ve heard many a leak about the Nexus 9 over the past couple of months, but the fact that it’s mentioned in the documents uncovered by The Brightside News is a big deal. Aside from the fact that it actually names the upcoming tablet, it also confirms that the device will come with NVIDIA’s 64-bit Tegra K1 processor and that the tablet will be available in Q3 2014.

That last piece is a bit confusing, since September is the last month of Q3, and all rumours have indicated that the next Nexus devices won’t be released until the end of October. As I’m sure you’ve guessed, that’s well in Q4. Then again, there is a possibility that NVIDIA’s lawyers their facts wrong. If that’s the case then NVIDIA really needs to have a rethink of its legal strategy.

The documents have since been taken offline, but you can see the paragraph in question in the image below.
