Motorola launches the Moto G (2014) for £145

The original Moto G is Motorola’s best selling phone of all time, surprising that isn’t it? To be fair it did have some decent specs, and it only cost £89. You can’t really argue with that. It’s hardly a surprise that Motorola has gone and unveiled a successor to the Moto G, which is called… The Moto G (2014). Luckily, like with the HTC One M8, it’ll have the (2014) suffix to help us tell the difference between the two.

The specs aren’t anything special, in fact they’re virtually the same as every other budget smartphone on the market — just without 4G connectivity. It’s got a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 5-inch 720p HD display, 8MP and 2MP rear and front cameras, a 2,070 mAh battery, 16GB of expandable storage. Currently the new Moto G runs on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat), but is expected to be upgradable to Android L in the coming months.

I suppose having the latest version of Android on such a cheap handset is rather impressive, even if the hardware is comparable to the other budget handsets available. Oh and speaking of available, you’ll be able to buy it from Amazon later today. [Motorola via Android and Me]
