The iPad Air 2 could be announced on October 21st

The world has only just started to get back to normal after the launch of the iPhone 6 and the unveiling of the Apple Watch, but it seems that the world of all things Apple could be getting turned on its head again very soon, because rumour has it that Apple will be announcing the iPad Air 2, and an updated iPad Mini, on October 21st. Just in time for the rumoured release of the Nexus 9.

We haven’t heard much about any new iPads recently (except for that mysterious camera hole yesterday), and that could be an advantage over at Apple HQ because we have no idea what to expect. Then again we can probably expect to start hearing a lot of rumours and leaks about the updated devices.

What can we expect? Probably the inclusion of a TouchID fingerprint scanner, a new thinner device, maybe, just maybe, we might even hear about the 6th generation iPod Touch. That might just be wishful thinking on my part, though.

Apple, as usual, hasn’t confirmed the date, but seeing as the rumour mill was talking up an iPad announcement in October well before the official unveiling of the iPhone 6 then there is a distinct possibility that it could be correct. It’s also roughly a month after the release of the iPhone 6, so it’s the perfect opportunity for Apple to brag about how many units its sold.
