The Gear S will be available in the US before the year is up, no UK release date yet

Samsung’s Gear S marks a small leap in smartwatch technology. Thanks to the watch being 3G-capable, you don’t need to have it within range of a smartphone for it to reach its full potential. We now know an approximate release date for the device, it’ll be released in the US this ‘fall’. Which basically means it’ll arrive before the end of the year.

Sadly we don’t have a UK release date yet, which is irritating, but it isn’t too much of a stretch to assume that the Gear S will also make it to British shelves before the end of the year. A fancy new smartwatch would be a great Christmas present for a tech-junky after all.

In case you forgot, the Gear S comes with a 2-inch curved 480p display, a 1GHz processor, 4GB of internal storage, 512MB of RAM, a 300 mAh battery, and has 3G connectivity to you can answer calls and send texts from your wrist without the need for your phone to be around.

The biggest issue is that we don’t have an approximate price for the Gear S, and even the rumour mill has been keeping relatively quiet about that point. Luckily with the release window essentially being on us now we shouldn’t have too long to wait.
