Amazon is the proud owner of ‘amazonsucks.com’

If you’re a big company like Amazon, you’re bound to get some criticism every now and again — some of it worse than others. So how do you take pre-emptive measure to ensure that this criticism doesn’t turn into a PR disaster? You buy up all the domains that could cause you issues. Case in point, Amazon is the proud owner of ‘amazonsucks.com’, ‘fuckamazon.com’, ‘screwamazon.com’, and ‘amazonstinks.com’.

This is a pretty common occurrence as well, Microsoft bought Xbone.com, to try and curb the use of the nickname for the Xbox One. It didn’t work.

It could work as a brief short-term solution, but can Amazon buy every single domain that could possibly be used to insult them? Probably not, but it probably won’t stop them buying up the obvious ones. [@alex_shephard via Ubergizmo]
