Report says iPhone 6 event slated for September 9th

The web, or at least the part of it that is obsessed with Apple, is awash with rumours that the company has scheduled an iPhone event for Sept. 9th.

There’s nothing else to go on at the moment, but if true it would seem that the compay is likely to unveil both the iPhone 6. This flies in the face of rumours that delays in production had pushed the launch back to October.

Recode, which broke the story, also says that both the 4.7- and 5.5-inch versions of the iPhone will be displayed. Quite when they are going to go on sale in 1, significant numbers and 2, in markets outside the US remains anyone’s guess. It may be that the phones are displayed and then launched in a staggered way over the coming months. Given the internet rumours it would be quite a surprise if the iPhone 6 5.5inch version was available worldwide in large numbers before the end of 2014.

In the past Recode has been pretty accurate in predicting Apple press conferences.
