Mobile rumours: A super thin Galaxy Alpha, Xperia Z3 Compact, and a Motorola mystery

The world of mobile news is scary and complicated, with rumours flying about all over the place about what the many different companies are planning on doing. If you don’t know what you’re looking for then chances are you won’t get very far, so to ease your burden here are some of today’s biggest mobile rumours.

1. New Galaxy Alpha leaks show how thin the device is

New Galaxy Alpha Leak May Show Super-Slim Design

We’ve seen an awful lot about the Samsung’s Galaxy Alpha in the past week, including a number of shots supposedly of the device itself. What those shots didn’t show, however, is just how thin the device is.  The above picture shows what is supposedly a Galaxy Alpha compared to an iPhone 5S, and you can see that the Alpha is noticeably thinner.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is rumoured to be announced within the next month, and many outlets have dubbed it Samsung’s “iPhone Killer”. [@cueleaks via Gizmodo UK]

2. Could this be the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact?

We’ve heard bits and pieces around the web about the release of the Sony Xperia Z3 next month, but so far we haven’t had much in the way of solid leaks of photos.  Now we have photos of a smaller device that is claimed to be the Xperia Z3 Compact, a smaller version of the rumoured device. Unfortunately it’s legitimacy is being doubted, primarily because there is no Sony logo present on the device, and also because the specs that leaked alongside the pictures don’t seem to add up.

The specs in question are supposed to be a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 20.7MP camera, which are believable, but as Pocket Now points out, a 4.7-inch 1080p display doesn’t match up to what’s been included in the previous Xperia Compact models. They could be onto something, or they could just be paranoid, so make sure you take this information with a pinch of salt. [PocketNow]

3.  A mysterious new Motorola phone has leaked, is it the Moto X+1, or maybe a Nexus 6?

A mysterious phone box has appeared sporting the branding of US network Verizon and apparently coming from Motorola. All we really know is that the device’s serial number is XT1096, and that it comes with a disclaimer of being a pre-release model. What on earth is it? We don’t know, because that’s all the information we have. But, the fact that a new Motorola phone is probably going to land very soon it’s an exciting thing to speculate over.
