Our top 5 fashion startups to watch: Thread, Jon Lou, Sizem

Fashion and technology have often made reluctant bedfellows. But following the success of networking events like Decoded Fashion, we now have a collection of stylish new startups leading the way, with digital experiences as creative as the outfits they’re selling.

Here are five to keep an eye on.

Because crazy numbers of us still fail to wear a bra that properly supports our assets, there’s now an app for that. Croatian-based startup Sizem has created an advanced calculator to help women accurately measure their bra size (even allowing for frivolous extras like breathing), and is also working as a B2B solution for manufacturers, brands and retailers to help them improve the range and fit of their products.

Soon users will be able to use Sizem to take the backache out of shopping too, using the site as a meta search engine to filter the best bras and bust-friendly clothes from across the world, and also find out exactly how generous or stingy each brands’ sizing tends to be. Their aim is to reduce the number of bad bras you have to return, and “make the world a happier place for boobs”. An uplifting prospect, we’re sure you’ll agree.

The downside: Sizem’s life-changing bra engine isn’t live yet, but you can use the calculator for now.

Check out Sizem.
