Wines of Westeros: Drink like a Lannister with this awesome Game of Thrones-themed wine

Serious fans of Game of Thrones can ensure they get a taste of the action at any time with the release of a selection of wines based on the hit HBO TV series.

Created by Sydney-based advertising agency Common Ventures, the so-called Wines of Westeros come in 12 varieties, each designed to represent a different feuding faction in Westeros.

Perhaps you like a good Merlot, in which case you’ll want the Dothraki; if it’s Sauvignon Blanc you prefer, then choose from Wildling, Stark, Arryn, Greyjoy and White Walker. Both House Targaryen and the Night’s Watch are represented as Shiraz, while the Lannisters and the Baratheons manifest as the appropriately dark Pinot Noir.

The wine will be priced at around $20 AUS per bottle and will be available for international pre-order in time for season five, so you’ll really be able to get in the zone while watching. The wine itself will be sourced from local Australian wineries and is intended to be drunk, not put on the shelf – so don your cloak, grab a goblet and let it flow.

“Impossible as it seems, there was a time when I was unaccustomed to wine.” – Tyrion Lannister, series 1, episode 9
