HTC to bring Desire 500 mid range smartphone to the UK in August

htc-desire-500-1-small.jpgSome big-ish news from HTC this morning. The Taiwanese maker has just announced that its mid range smartphone – HTC Desire 500 model will go on sale in Europe, including the UK, from later in the month.

Features-wise the Desire 500 looks like a contender with a 4.3-inch screen,1.2GHz quad-core chipset, win cameras (8MP and 1.6MP), SD card support and the same BlinkFeed-led user interface that debuted on the HTC One range.

Another important facility is the phone’s Video Highlights which takes your stills and videos from one event or days’ shooting and compiles them into a 30-second reel, set to music according to one of six themes.

The phone will be available in Lacquer Black and Glacier Blue and will available with dual SIM support and NFC in select markets (though not sure yet if this includes the UK).

“The Desire range has become renowned for bringing a premium mobile experience to the mass market.” commented Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. “This particular model, the Desire 500, is no different. It is perfect for people who are always-on-the-go, it enables powerful multitasking and live-streaming of important and interesting information, and it boasts an excellent camera and that bring your important moments to life.”
