INFOGRAPHIC: The Internet Map makes the web look like space

It’s been a while since we got excited about an infographic, they’re just all so dull and “so what” now, right? But today we stumbled across The Internet Map, a kind of a dynamic online map, which shows you websites in relation to one another. Think of it as a much more sensible We Feel Fine for sites and traffic figures rather than emotions.

Each circle (or should we say node) is a website, but unlike an actual map they’re not presented in relation to one another, here’s a little explanation from the guys at The Internet Map:

“The Internet map is a bi-dimensional presentation of links between websites on the Internet. Every site is a circle on the map, and its size is determined by website traffic, the larger the amount of traffic, the bigger the circle. Users’ switching between websites forms links, and the stronger the link, the closer the websites tend to arrange themselves to each other.”

There’s more in-depth research about how the map was created over on the site’s about page, but we’re more excited about the fact we found Shiny Shiny. HIGH FIVE.
