There are a number of brands and businesses creating Instagram-themed products, which we’ll be looking at in more depth later in the week. However, we’re really excited about the work creative publishing platform Blurb has been doing with all kinds of Instagram photos, which allow users to create actual photo books, as well as eBooks of their filtered, dreamy images.
It’s really simple if you want to make an actual book, just select images through your Instagram account and they’ll automatically be sent through to Blurb. You can then amend your shots, tweak the layout and make everything look pretty before sending it to publish.
However, it’s not just about creating photo books with Blurb, you can also create a range of ePhotobooks that you can view on the iPad, iPhone or iPad touch. You publish one of these new eBooks in the same way and then you can pinch, zoom and swipe through them like you would with a digital magazine.
You can also list your books for sale on the Blurb Bookstore too if you’re feeling particularly proud of your mobile photography skillz. However, I’m not sure many other people will be willing to pay money to see pictures of your fancy meals and sleeping cat.
Printed books start at £7.95 and eBooks start at £1.49.
To celebrate Instagram week we’re running an easy to enter mobile photography competition with our friends at Orbitsound. All you have to do is take a photo with an Autumnal theme and share it on Twitter along with the hash tag #ShinyAutumn. It can be of a leaf or a Halloween costume, we really don’t mind. The winner will get a fabulous T12v3 speaker bar from Orbitsound and 19 runners up will get random iPhone related goodies.
