Good news for Brit Android owners – the BBC News app is now out on Android MarketPlace for free. But not on tablets running Android Honeycomb – yet.

Featuring a customisable homepage with the horizontal scroll-bars familiar to iPhone users, it contains there’s also a rapid news stories refresh and latest and breaking news ticker. The feeds are customisable.

And best of all, it lets you download stories so you can read them in places without 3G access…

The iPhone and iPad apps were launched in the UK last July and have had nearly 3 million UK downloads and a further 3 million internationally to date.
