Eclipse TD508II-UD desktop speakers. Dodgy name. Stunning design.

No, the name doesn’t exactly trip off the tongue. But who cares when this set of desktop speakers and matching amplifier looks this good?

Eclipse is a division of the Fujitsu-Ten audio group, and so has access to the technology and engineering resources of Toyota and Fujitsu. And it shows. Their latest sound system, available from July, works with PC, Mac, iPod and MP3 and will definitely do you proud sitting in your study. It comes at a price though – £679.99, to be exact.

And if you’re one of those people whose cranked-up bass levels make your walls vibrate, this may not be for you – it’s designed to create musical clarity and detail, rather than the artificial and processed sound so many of us have got used to. Yes, it’s one for the connoisseurs. Check out our mini gallery for more.
