After a bizarre claim by an Islamic cleric in Iran that women wearing low-cut tops caused earthquakes, an American student has decided to put this theory to full and fair scientific test. Whipping up support on Facebook, Jennifer McCreight, a student at Purdue University has organised an event called Boobquake where immodestly dressed women will strut about for a bit being immodest and see if an earthquake happens as a result.
It’s like cleavage in ladys’ bosoms causes cleavage in the tectonic plates.
In the exact words of the cleric:
“Many women who do not dress modestly … lead young men astray, corrupting their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes.”
Though it does seem as though male chastity is the key issue here. Maybe guys should just stop sleeping around if they want to prevent plate friction.
The event is being filmed in Washington DC, but people across the world are invited to join: Facebook here.[via Boing Boing]
