The minimum wage machine

Ever wanted to work for minimum wage? Well a thoughtful socialist artist has come up with the Minimum Wage Machine, so instead of getting a job in the local supermarket, why not catch a plane and shimmy over to New York to see Blake Fall-Conroy’s artwork and earn yourself some pennies.

309 minimum wage.jpgTurning the crank will yield one penny every 5.04 seconds, resulting in $7.15 an hour (NY state minimum wage). If the participant stops turning the crank, they stop receiving money. The machine’s mechanism and electronics are powered by the hand crank, and pennies are stored in a plexiglas box.

You have to turn the handle for a full hour to get the exact amount – so no toilet breaks.

To be honest though your arm would get sore, that doesn’t sound that bad these days… shame the only prototype is in the States.
