YouTube joins the Twitter party

youtube-twitter-button.pngTwitter mania is spreading like some kind of virtual pestilence and YouTube has finally succumbed to its power. The video sharing giant is next to jump on the Twitter bandwagon by adding a Twitter button to the ‘share’ section of the site below every video link (joining Facebook, MySpace, Bebo and Digg). Clicking on the Twitter button will open up a pop-up window that’ll take you to your microblogging account. It will then fill out your 140 character tweet for you, alerting your humble followers to ‘check out this video’, displaying the title and URL. YouTube is currently working on shortening the URL, to free up more space for any witty commentary. So expect to see a wave of YouTube links popping up in your Twitter feed.

Twitter is truly invading the intertubes. Not only is it being introduced into the school curriculum, but it has recently announced a free SMS service with Vodafone, as well as introducing paid-for Pro accounts in the near future. Let’s hope the novelty doesn’t wear off, eh?
