GE unleashes a slew of digital cameras

GE isn’t one of those camera brands that is as distinguished and well known as some of its popular megapixel toting pals, but it’s been trying to put itself on the map by producing a range of quality compacts, that not only boast a heap of great specs, but at seriously affordable prices too. Well, those camera makers over at GE (or General Imaging) will be overcrowding the compact camera arena (and trying to grab our attention) once again, with nine new additions to its camera collection. The range will boast a number of great features including auto scene detection, pan-capture panorama and optical image stabilisation (E1276W and X3 models only), as well as budget AA powered models to high-end bridge cameras. Each camera packs 9 megapixels or more, with at least seven of the new models pack 5x zoom or higher.

Each camera brings something to the table such as waterproof capabilities to the depth of three meters (G3WP), 12x zoom (X3), a 3-inch touch panel LCD display (E1250TW), HDTV output (E1250TW) and a 28mm wide angle lens (E1255W).

But rather than simultaneously letting all nine loose onto the market, GE will be releasing four of them in April – the A950 (9 megapixels, 5x zoom, 2.5-inch screen), A1150 (11 megapixels, 5x zoom, 2.5 inch screen), A1250 (12 megapixels, 5x zoom, 2.5 inch screen) and the E1255W (12 megapixels, 5x zoom, 3 inch screen, 28mm wide angle lens). There aren’t any pricing details at the moment, but if GE’s last range of cameras is anything to go by, they shouldn’t be too pricey.
