Relieve boredom with the Sony Ericsson W995

w995.JPGSony Ericsson is already renowned for releasing mobile after mobile after mobile. So to mix it up a little and give us something to look forward to, Sony Ericsson has promised to bring us a slew of multimedia-heavy handsets this year. This promise begins with the W995 Walkman phone.

This supercharged mobile has got entertainment on the move covered. For starters, it’s the first handset to feature Media Go – an application which serves to effortlessly transfer, play and organise your entertainment (audio, photos and videos), in most file formats, to your mobile phone from your PC. A-GPS, Turbo 3G and WiFi have also been bundled in to make navigation, web browsing experience and YouTube viewing, a pleasure as opposed to a hindrance. And finally, it wouldn’t be a multimedia handset without an 8.1 megapixel camera packing all the standard features – auto focus, photo flash and face detection – optimised video playback (for the best possible video resolution) and Walkman capabilities, which can all be viewed on its 2.6-inch screen.

Sony Ericsson has even bundled in a built-in stand to ensure less effort on your behalf when watching your latest home made videos or snapping pics. And “with enough battery stamina to watch two full length feature films”, it sounds like you’ll be able to take advantage of its multimedia features for hours.

In true Sony Ericsson style, the phones have each been given unnecessary and elaborately coloured names – Progressive Black, Cosmic Silver and Energetic Red and will be available as of Q2 this year. So if you find yourself struggling to keep entertained, the W995 sounds like it’ll do the trick.
