Nokia goes back to basics with three classic designs

We’ve already toyed with the idea that Nokia is embroiled in some kind of battle with Sony Ericsson to produce the most phones in a year. And now testament to this theory is the release of three more mobile from the mobile giant. Albeit, they’re a bit on the basic side, but that’s three more to tally up for Nokia – the 6700 classic, 6303 classic and the 2700 classic.

The 6700 (top left), the descendent of the 6300 that’s going to “carry on the legacy of the Nokia 6300” is the most highly specced of the new trio. There’s a 5 megapixel camera, A-GPS with Nokia Maps and high speed data connection for audio and video too. Prices for this model are being touted at €235 (about £215), before the word ‘contact’ is involved.

Moving away from 5 megapixels and high speed navigational features, it’s the 6303 classic (centre stage) with its “large” 2.2-inch screen. It packs 3.2 megapixels for your photography needs, Nokia Maps and “excellent battery performance”. The inclusion of a 3.5mm jack as opposed to a proprietary one and good battery life indicates this handset could quite possibly be aimed at the music lovers. Lower specs equals lower price, and this one will come priced at €135 (£125).

Lastly, it’s the cheap as chips model – the 2700 classic. You won’t lose sleep over it if you aren’t able to get one and there certainly won’t be any oohing and ahhing, but not everyone’s about the look at me factor. Does that describe you – does mobile internet make you say “pah”? The 2700 is worth thinking about then. It offers 2GB of storage with the assistance of a memory card, a music player, a 2 megapixel camera and is compatible with Nokia Ovi online services. It’s priced at €65 (£60) which will definitely please the piggy bank.

Full details are a tad hazy at this moment, but with MWC just around the corner, we’ll probably be hearing this soon. What we do know is all phones are UK bound in the second quarter of the year.
