CES 2009: The desirable phone/watch hybrid prototype from LG

lg-touch-watch-thumb-200x298.jpgWhen a species gets increasingly intelligent, it could be potentially damaging to the future of another species or group. In this case it’s the mobile phone. Like what the DVD player did to the VHS, the watches are planning g the downfall of the mobile phone. You only need to take a look at devices like the Phenom Phone Watch or Sony Ericsson’s Bluetooth watches to see watches are stepping further and further into mobile phone territory. The LG-GD910 is testament to this.

The lack of buttons means it’ll quite clearly be a touchscreen device. It’s also waterproof, weighs 85g and features voice calling, text to speech, and stereo Bluetooth , which spec-wise, makes it better than *a lot* of mobiles out there. And “you can wear it on your wrist”.

Whether or not it’ll catch on is another thing. But it’ll definitely get you one step closer to emulating your gadget guru hero – Inspector Gadget. It’s due for release “this year” and that’s about as much as we know.

  • Everyone’s raving about these things recently! What gets me though, is that they’re nothing new – they’ve been around for a while.

I’ve got one myself – the only real drawback of them is charging (I’ve just learnt to take it off at night though). I’ve always loved the whole Dick Tracy feel to them! Can’t remember where I got it from, but there’s a few very much like mine here http://www.gotogadgets.com/watches

  • oh my god! that is possibly the most exciting thing ever!!! will I also be able to summons my sentient car with it and contact secret agent’s HQ with the touch of a button?
