I heard it through the grapevine: Mac Mini to get an upgrade

Word on the web is that Apple will be making a rather exciting announcement at Macworld in around three week’s time, concerning its Mini Mac. We heard from a little birdie, who heard from a slightly bigger birdie, who was told from one big ass bird (the big ass birdie being an anonymous Apple employee who may become unemployed subsequent to this) that the Mac Mini is getting a much needed upgrade, quashing rumours that Apple are ridding themselves of it altogether.

It probably won’t be the biggest of the Apple announcements, so there could still be something miles better up old Steve Jobs’ sleeve yet, but the Mac Mini is expected to be a hot topic come January 5th.

This is just the latest of a barrage of Apple rumours that have been churning in the rumour mill of late, including a mini iPhone and a supped up Shuffle.

Based on the trends of latest Apple products, Wired believes the new Mac Mini will pack 4GB of RAM, include PVC-free components, two different processor speed options (2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo and a 2.3 GHz Core 2 Duo) and the option to scrap the optical drive for a second HDD to all come encased in an aluminium shell.

As the saying goes – only time will tell.
