Nokia releases the E63 to join the Nokia smartphone family

Nokia-E63-thumb-200x366.jpgLooking remarkably similar to the E71, it’s the E63 – the latest QWERTY smartphone in the Nokia range. Smartphones traditionally reside in business territory but Nokia wants to bring you a phone that still maintains its business features as well as providing you with equal access to personal features. It’s for people “who need to manage their business and personal lives equally well” you see.

So it’s got Wifi, 3G, exchange mail, single-key access to contacts and other features that make it a business user’s playground, but it also comes with the ability to switch modes from professional to personal. What that essentially means is you can switch between work email, calendar appointments et al to pictures of your partner or pet (taken on its 2 megapixel camera), personal email and shortcuts to your favourite blogs.

As far as specs go, they’re not telling us much, so it looks like we’re going to have to be patient and wait to find out the rest.

With the E63 you get 1GB of remote storage courtesy of Ovi, a microSD slot and a 3.5mm jack (which is more appreciated in this office than you may think). It’s available in blue or red for around 200 Euros – although that’s before it gets embroiled in contact talks. Shipping is expected to begin over the next few weeks.
